Captures Essence for Online Visitors
Great American Restaurants (GAR) was born in 1976 in Northern Virginia. Thirty-three years later, GAR is the proud host of nine highly successful upper-casual restaurants and an artisan bakery. In 2007, GAR approached Signal Marketing Group in search of a way to translate the exceptionally high-energy, fun-filled atmosphere of their restaurants into an engaging experience for online visitors.
The Signal staff scouted the locations to get a feel for the unique attributes of each restaurant brand, and, at the same time, a sense of the common characteristics representing the GAR brand. The major challenge for Signal Creative Director Scott Severson was to conceive a common Web architecture for the seven restaurant brands, while creating a unique visceral experience on each site. Using Flash animation, interactive elements, upbeat music, and a focus on food and people, Signal created an enticing series of sites, including a corporate online presence, that serves as the portal to all the restaurants in the group.
